Race Relations/Diversity Advisory Panel
Terms of Reference
Attend the Equality of Service Management Group and Equal Opportunities Working Party within Bedfordshire Police and report back to the full Police Authority on any issues
Monitor performance indicators and targets for both the Authority and Police Service Race Equality Schemes, reporting back annually to the full Police Authority
Review both Schemes on an annual basis and report back to the full Police Authority
Receive any relevant issues identified by the Complaints & Professional Standards Committee concerning Bedfordshire Police and Chief Officers
Report annually to the full Police Authority on our own recruitment procedures
The Group would therefore effectively ensure:
Compliance with the provisions of the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000
Equality of opportunity and good race relations are advanced during the life of the Schemes
Improvements upon what we have already achieved can be identified
Lack of progress is identified and acted upon
Consultation undertaken to monitor public perception and satisfaction is maintained and acted upon.
Youth Issues Group
Terms of Reference
The main responsibility of the Youth Issues Group is to manage and approve grants from the Youth Project Fund.
Local groups and organisations are able to apply to the authority for grants of between £1000 and £5000 to support projects aimed at providing services and facilities to young people and reduce the risk of them becoming involved in criminal or anti-social activities.
The group then has a responsibility to monitor/evaluate the effectiveness of the projects
The Youth Issues Group reports directly to the Police Authority, or to working groups/committees within the authority where appropriate.
The group also oversees any consultation carried out with young people on behalf of the authority, which may involve members of the group being required to attend consultation sessions/focus groups.
