Volunteering
-
If you are interested in the work of the Police, there are ways that you can become directly involved.
Young people aged 15-18½ can become Volunteer Police Cadets, or you can apply to become a Special Constable.
Police Cadets
There are 68 Bedfordshire Volunteer Police Cadets aged 15-18½. You can apply to join until you are 17½, and new recruits are always welcome. Cadets gain a real insight into the life and work of police officers, as well as learning excellent team-building and leadership skills. In addition to weekly meetings, there are opportunities to become involved in community events in the county, alongside both regular officers and members of the Special Constabulary.
Cadets are based at Police Headquarters, Luton and Ampthill. It's fun and rewarding. To find out more, contact Jenny Goodman on 01234 842119.
Special Constables
We are delighted that we now have over 120 Special Constables in Bedfordshire. These volunteers are highly valued, and we are always seeking new recruits. We would like to see all communities of Bedfordshire and Luton represented among the Special Constables as it is an excellent way of putting something back into your community. If you would like further information, please contact Nigel Green on 01234 842808.
